Rosie's Dog Beach

The name says it all, Rosie's Dog Beach is a dog-friendly, off the leash beach, and I know all you dog lovers out there are Googling photos right now.

This beach is a 4 acre stretch of beach where dogs are allowed to run free, play with other dogs and splash around in the water without the restriction of being kept on a leash.
Located in Long Beach California, it is less than an hours drive from the heart of Los Angeles.

Do understand that this beach is not fenced, so if you're bringing your dog here be sure to keep an eye on them and have them trained well enough to come back when called. The last thing you want is your dog making a sprint towards the road. (it is far enough away that it shouldn't be an issue if your dog has basic training). If your dog Rosie's Dog Beach is the only dog beach in all of Long Beach, making it popular from miles around.

Parking isn't an issue, there is plenty of metered parking spaces right by the entrance to the beach which will cost you 50c per 15 minutes. If you're looking for free parking that can be found, you just won't be as close as if you choose the paid parking option. From the parking lot to the beach you will cross bike lanes, be aware that these areas are not permitted to have your dog off leash, so don't let them run free until you hit sand under your toes.

Whether you're travelling with your pup or just excited to watch a bunch of happy dogs run and play and hope to get a pat in here or there then this beach is perfect for you, You don't need to bring a dog with you to visit Rosie's Dog Beach, it is a public area, where anyone is allowed.

And if you love dogs as much as I do, I couldn't think of a better day out in California!
This is the perfect place to meet like-minded, friendly dog owners and give your pup a much deserved play date and the opportunity to mix and play with others. Or, rock up without a dog, place your towel down and enjoy the furry company that comes your way for a cheeky pat.

With Rosies Dog Beach not being a dedicated dog beach, your four legged friends are only permitted from 6am - 8pm, so unfortunately there won't be any midnight dips in the ocean for your pup, but we guarantee they'll be so exhausted after a few hours of playing they'll be sleeping like a log anyway!

Rosies Dog Beach is a must visit for any dog lover. Whether you bring your dog with you and let it run free or whether you just want to enjoy the adorable sight of dogs splashing in the water and chasing tennis balls, it's a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and a great excuse to pat as many dogs as you can.
